According to the British Dyslexia Association, there are approximately 1.3 million children and young people in the UK with dyslexia, making it one of the most common learning difficulties, significantly impacting literacy, education, and daily life for many people.

However, with the right support and resources, students with dyslexia can flourish both academically and personally. This is why we collaborate with leading EdTech providers who are specialists in making learning more accessible. Here’s how some of our fantastic partners: Talamo, Everway, and ReadSpeaker are helping students with dyslexia unlock their full potential!

At Skolon, we believe in a world where every student has the tools to thrive, regardless of their unique learning style. During Dyslexia Awareness Week (W/C 6th October), we’re proud to highlight our partners in raising awareness, breaking down barriers, and championing inclusive education for all learners, especially those with dyslexia.

Our partners: empowering students with dyslexia

Talamo: Supporting independence through insight

We’re excited to be working with Talamo, whose classroom screener is designed to do more than just identify dyslexia. Talamo helps schools support students in understanding how they learn.

By combining personalised reports with clear insights into strengths, challenges, and next steps, Talamo empowers young people to build the self-awareness and confidence they need to navigate their education.

Research shows that self-advocacy is a key predictor of success for students with learning differences, however, too often, these skills aren’t taught. Talamo’s approach encourages reflection, ownership, and independence, giving learners a foundation not just for school, but for life beyond the classroom.

Everway’s Read&Write: supporting confidence and independent learning

Dyslexia doesn’t just affect reading and writing—it can also take a toll on a student’s confidence and overall wellbeing. Read&Write by Everway is designed to reduce that pressure by giving students the tools they need to work independently and succeed on their own terms.

With features like Text-to-Speech, Vocabulary Lists, and writing support, Read&Write helps remove common learning barriers while building self-belief and resilience. When used as part of the Skolon platform, it becomes an essential part of a school’s wider support system—empowering students with dyslexia to engage more fully, learn with confidence, and feel good about their progress.

ReadSpeaker: empowering accessible learning with TextAid

ReadSpeaker is dedicated to making reading accessible to all learners. Their web-based platform, TextAid, uses advanced text-to-speech technology with natural, clear voices to read any text aloud, helping students – especially those with dyslexia – follow along with word-by-word highlighting. Therefore, reducing reading fatigue and boosting understanding.

TextAid also offers fully customisable options like dyslexia-friendly fonts (including OpenDyslexic), adjustable text colors and sizes, coupled with helpful tools like screen masks and reading rulers to improve focus.

These features play a crucial role in creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

A 2018 report found that less than half of teachers feel adequately prepared to support students with learning differences. By providing tools like TextAid, Skolon helps ensure every child can participate fully in their education.
