Johan Sundin

Johan, could you tell us a little about your role here at Skolon?

Sure! I work as Account Manager, so a typical day for me involves meeting with customers to discover what challenges they are facing, what their needs are and how we can help them with it all. We have a distinct target group and the advantage of being able to form close ties with them. I feel confident in saying that we have an extremely good dialogue with our customers and it provides us with a solid foundation on how to develop the platform. What do our customers need so that teachers and students in the classroom can as easily as possible work digitally? How can Skolon become part of a school’s or municipality’s strategy? These are the kinds of questions we ask. It is very exciting and rewarding to be a part of it all!

…could you share a bit more about who you are and what you do outside of work?

I’ve been working in the Software as a Service (SaaS) industry for 7 years, which is all about using software and technology to make life easier for people. I am passionate about technology, but more about the people side of it and less nerdy about the technology itself. In other words, I really love focusing on how technology can be used to make our work and lives smarter, better and even more efficient. It’s so cool!
Otherwise, I’ve got a busy and full life at home with my family, a son who will soon be two, dog and good friends. I love sports and football was my passion as a kid. But I’ve put those shoes on the shelf and have become an ice hockey fanatic instead. I even love watching replays of a match during the evening and my son already has his first match jersey, with the logo of my favourite team on the front, of course

What’s it like working on your specific team?

Well, the very first thing that comes to mind is cooperation. We toss ideas around a lot and get input from each other’s work, which means that we truly benefit from what each person in the team is particularly good at. In other words, it’s quite unpretentious. We have a clear, shared goal of what we are trying to achieve and realize together! It is totally consistent with Skolon’s values, to truly be a team player.

…and what’s it like being a Skolon employee? How would you describe the company culture?

Our offices are spread out across many cities, but nevertheless, I definitely feel like every aspect of Skolon as a company focuses on making things better all the time. We all look out for each other, regardless of which team you belong to. For example, if I’m in a customer meeting and need help from one of our technicians, someone will always volunteer and help ensure that the meeting will be as successful as possible. Everyone is ready and willing to help where help is needed and I definitely feel that what we achieve, is as a team. I can talk and hang out with anyone in the gang. It’s a large, open and social group of people!

What would you say to someone who’s interested in working here?

The common denominator is that each of us has some sort of ties to school, either as a former student ourselves or because we have kids in school right now. That’s why it’s so fun to be working at a company focused on making schools better, now and in the future.
I love the pace, too, and that we always have our sights set on the future. We don’t just sit around taking about things. We make it happen! There is never a status quo on how we work, which I also find incredibly motivating and stimulating. I’m already looking forward to what’s in store for us in 2023!
